Pirate Paintbrush
Ok... Neopets ramblings ahead XD I was going through my SDB... and I found that I had a PIRATE PAINT BRUSH!!!! http://www.neopets.com/island/tradingpost.phtml?type=browse&criteria=id&search_string=343249586*flails* I'm not sure where it even came from... All I can figure is that I found it when I only played a teeny bit, and through it in there because I wasn't active enough to put it in the trades. I may just forfil my dream of a Plushie Cybunny XD Of corse... I still have Catechument, my old Desert Poogle. http://www.neopets.com/petlookup.phtml?pet=CatechumenI'm going to attempt to trade him for a Plushie Cybunny... Anybody wanna walk me through how to do this properly xD I feel like a newbie!! I may include his Plushie Cybunny too, it would earn somebody an avatar... or would it be better just to take it off him and keep it for my new Plushie Cybunny?? *dreams* Current Mood: ecstatic |

Poor piggie.
My second guinea pig, Little Pig, passed away during the night. He'd stopped eating suddenly and he went pretty quickly, as they often do. I'd tried to give him some water by hand but it wasn't enough. He was a sweet little guy, never bit and was very shy. When I first got him he was so shy that he'd hide his face in the crook of your arm. I adopted him from Petco where they were keeping him in a tiny glass tank. Nobody wanted him because he had skin problems. The poor thing had health problems the entire time I had him. I'll miss his cute noises when he demanded food or got excited. I hope he's actually getting along with Piglet up in Piggie Heaven. :( I myself am still pretty sick, I can drag myself out of bed for short periods of time but that's about it. Going to the doctor in a little while. Again, still not able to respond to messages and stuff so please bear with me. Current Mood: sad |

Homeward bound
At the oakland airport, doing some last minute work before I hop on the plane. I can't wait to get home and back in the arms of my wuff. It has been way too long. If there has been one thing on my mind while I've been gone its been him. You would think that you wouldn't miss someone that you see everyday, but damnit, 10 days is a long time. Tonight is a dinner together, snuggles and our christmas. The trip was good, no real incidents, no talks nothing really bad happened. I spent most my time relaxing with my brothers, either playing left 4 dead, or call of duty. Tis a good way to spend a vacation. The family is all doing well. My mom is still recovering from her surgery but is really making good progress. She says she feels better, and is trying to take less pain pills each day. I tell her to enjoy the narcotics while she can. Both my brothers are doing well. Gregg and Holly are happy together down in LA. I'm glad that he's found someone. Steve is pushing towards getting his school done and really kicking butt at it. I'm impressed with all the medical stuff he can spout off already. 10 days is enough though, and as I'ev said already I'm itching to get home. I'm relaxed, and ready to get geared up for work, next week as I'm still taking it easy. I managed to only work a little bit, maybe 3 out of the 10 days when you total it all up. I shouldn't have brought my laptop home over the holidays, but it looks like I'm gonna nail all my goals for the year. This is a load of stress off my back, I'm just glad to have it be over and done with. Now onward to next year, which hopefully brings more wags ^.^ Current Mood: tiredCurrent Music: Terminal Static - Mask of Gas |

They Might Be Elements
The latest TMBG video to fascinate Tim (and me): Yes, it's the elements! Tim has taken a definite liking to this one. Fortunately, I also like the song (though it is a bit repetitive). Now I know that they say preschoolers don't need a basic knowledge of chemistry when they enter school but you just know the kindergartners with a working understanding of chemistry are the ones that get ahead. ;) |

My Favorite 2006 song
"When You Were Young" by the killers with the key of B major and written in common time, displays the band's move towards a more "American" musical style, as it is part of an album that was supposedly heavily influenced by the music of Bruce Springsteen Current Mood: awakeCurrent Music: "When You Were Young" by The Killers |

A Case of the Mondays
I actually like working the week between Christmas and New Years. There's hardly anybody in the office so if you have work to be done, you can actually do it. When the work is done, there is no one to give you a hard time when you space out. I'm in a "space out" period right now. A promotion potential closes today. I think this makes about 3 times since I have put in for some sort of promotion. This time it sounds like the position was written for me. We shall see. Perhaps the old adage of "screw up and move up" will play out here. My little reservoir fiasco in May perhaps put the bug in someone's ear that I really need to be taken off reservoir operations. *shrugs* It's fun. It's enjoyable. But if you want to pay me a few thousand more a year to NOT do it, ok. Perhaps I'm just being too cynical. It IS getting close to full moon time. For me, it's literally "that time of the month." I have my own little menstruation period that lasts for about a day about 3-4 days before a full moon. I noticed I was getting all pissy reading LJ this morning. It's best if I not make any comments lest I piss someone off. I noticed another job today that I should put in for (NOT!). It was a hydrologist position in Gallup, NM working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. It must be a VERY popular position. It doesn't close until Dec of 2010. I have a feeling they would accept any warm body that would meet the basic criteria. |

Off to the midwest of NYE
I'm headed to the Mid-West for NYE tomorrow -- going to hang around Chicago for a couple days before driving to Columbus. Yes Ohio, I'm being nice this year and allowing you into the Mid-West; you're normally North-East in my books :P I'll be back home on the 4th and then the travel-wagon starts up again. I'm off to Victoria on Jan 5-6, into San Jose the following week (hopefully) and into Phoenix (and possibly Kansas City) to visit clients before FC. I still haven't decided if I'm going to drive or fly to FC this year .. though with the weather so far out here I may just drive; yesterday is was 50F. More later, but seriously, 2009 can suck it. |

Today's Not Cool award
...goes to Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell for benching his offensive starters in the third quarter of yesterday's game against the New York Jets, while holding a five-point lead. The Jets went on to score 19 unanswered points and end the Colts' undefeated season, 29-15. This gets a Not Cool award for one simple, easy-to-understand, undebatable reason: tens of thousands of Colts fans paid hundreds--thousands--of dollars to watch their home team, the Colts, win a football game. They did not pay hundreds--thousands--of dollars to watch their team roll over like cell phone minutes in the third quarter of a close game. The Colts threw the game. Period. I won't even mention the impact this had on the thousands of sports fans that wagered money on the Colts to win the game, to go undefeated, to become the first team to finish a season 19-0, etc. Or the millions of sports fans that wanted to see history made this year. If I were a Colts fan, and I had spent hundreds--thousands--of dollars to watch my beloved team intentionally lose that game, I would be writing the team ownership and demanding a 50% refund of the cost of my ticket. My team only played half the game; I should only pay half the price of the ticket. Bottom line. tigjah and all other Colts fans had every right to boo their team yesterday, and the Lead Shopwrecker approves of any and all punitive actions taken by Colts fans with regards to it. Let me make one thing clear: this Shop supports the New Orleans Saints 100% to win the Super Bowl this year, but an undefeated Colts season would still be an historic event that I would have been happy to see. --------------- And yes, I know there were other more Not Cool--indeed, Really F***ed Up--incidents that happened in the past two days, but I will not fulfill the desires of those Really F***ed Up people by blogging about it here. |

New airline regulation
Just so you know, there's going to be a new airline regulation put into place after new years which will require that all passengers " go commando." For men, this will mean being checked by new TSA personnel, to protect against any legal issues including sexual harassment - for women, a mirror will be installed in the floor immediately preceding the metal detectors. Stiff fines will be imposed on those who do not comply. Four ounce baggies will be provided for passengers who need to remove any undergarmants prior to going through the security check. DHS Secretary Napolitano has been quoted as hailing the new measure and promising that it will help the public feel more safe and secure with air travel; she went on to say sacrifices of comfort, efficiency, and safety need to be made in order to ensure the system continues to work perfectly. She then boarded an air force supplied, taxpayer funded C-20B Gulfstream III jet while flanked by four secret service agents. The airlines now recommend arriving at least ten hours prior to departure time to ensure boarding without any problems. Current Mood: mischievous |

Don't think you escaped!
Happy birthday to another Ancient Specimen. This Antediluvian has worked hard to add further years to an already Prodigious Lifespan, but is thwarted at every turn by his alter ego, Captain Intense. Thus, though he can't quite claim the title of Eldest, he already has the practiced gait of one several decades his senior. And an old lady's dog. roby_panther !</span> Current Mood: jubilant |

XXXMas
The Durdy Souf treated me well. As always it was fantastic to see my family. Besides the typical overindulgence of amazing food, I found out that my sister got engaged. Her fiancee is pretty darn cool and I approve of this 110% Since he's black, we are going to have some Tiger Woods popping out eventually (hopefully they won't get beaten up by golf clubs toting enraged wives). Otherwise I helped Mom in the yard, went and saw Up in the Air and Invictus (Invictus being quite moving) and relaxed and watched much football with the family. Air travel was a breeze; no atypical security or holiday hold-ups. But returning to a 20F, snow covered car was a harsh reality check. I miss wuf something awful. Won't be seeing him till the 31st. Hopefully I can maintain some resemblance of sanity till that point. I hope the holidays were merry and grand for you all! Current Mood: calm |

New Years Resolutions!
Okies...I've got this one fo' sho' this year. Motivation to fulfill my list has never been higher! - I'm quitting smoking, as are Growler and Yen. The killer last year was Feral...I had quit from January to late June, so I know I can do it. Problem is...I didn't do anything WITH my new found lungs...hence... - I have a new plan for working out and losing weight. Nothing crazy, it just involves stretching, running, weights and eating well...and a calendar. See, I have 'slashes' for the date-box representing each of these four things. I must have two slashes in each box every day, so if I run in the morning and have a good stretch, I've completed it! If I ate well and lifted some weights, I'm doin well! Obviously, a PERFECT day I get a little star and that is the goal at least five to ten times a month. - As for weight, a lot of people say "You look fine!" I understand that, but here's the fact that's driving me: in October 08 I was 185 pounds. I'm currently 215. That's a HUGE jump, folks...I wanna get back to the 20% body fat I achieved years ago and then maybe trim a bit off ;) That's it! No bogging down with career and music and life goals...I just wanna get healthy. I see it as the catalyst to everything else falling into place, and I'm being logical: I'm gonna be strict about it for January to April...after that, I can hope that my routine and general good health will keep me going! Wish me luck! I may keep LJ updated on my progress :) |

Month Long Hiatus - Happy New Year!
So I'm sitting in the San Diego Airport.... about to board the vacation of my lifetime. 1 Month long Friends New Places New Forms of Transportations New Food and more.... I'm excited, but already fearing how short this will fear. So I'll be gone from now until early February, meaning I'll be pretty inactive during this time. I wanna take this tie to say that I'm grateful to everyone who has been so kind to me this year, and every year. You all have made me feel special and it never ceases to amaze me that I get to share art with all of you guys, and in return you guys have supported me so well. You guys kickass! I plan to keep a journal, parts of it will be private, parts of it will be public. I don't wanna forget this. So I hope you all have a happy new year! Stay safe, have fun, happy new year, and hello vacation! Peace love, and happiness to you all. :) See some of you guys at FC2010! ps. You're all awesome. <3 |

Rubik's Cubes advanced
I can now solve a Rubik's Cube in about 2 minutes. In addition, the 4X4X4 Rubik's Cube takes me about 7 minutes. The 5X5X5 takes about 10-15 minutes and the 7X7X7 takes about 40 minutes to solve. I still haven't done the 6X6X6. Also the 5x5,6x6 and 7x7 are all V-cubes. I ordered them on www.v-cubes.com. The whole set with shipping from Greece was $125. They are so much faster and easier to work with than the Rubik's brand of cube. |

An Interesting Tweet
This is what 1978wolfie sent to me yesterday via the medium of Twitter: "so let me get this right u don't hav iPod, don't like Dance music, don't play console games & yet hav more followers than me LoL"
I feel like this a lot of the time - in terms of common interests with the group, I don't have all that many. Still, somehow it seems to work :-)
Last night's pubbage was great fun - five people is often the perfect number for a meet. So thanks go to Patter, Aremay, Taneli and Wolfie for coming along and imbibing in some serious ales. I had six pints of Guinness so was a little worse for wear at the end. We went to McDonald's it was so bad. Their Late Night Menu is designed to... erm... make drunk people pay extortionate prices for a slightly bigger burger without thinking. Still, the taxi drive back home was fun.
Thanks all for a great evening - even if it did get a little heated during the political discussion and also our game of "name that capital city". |

Past weekend festivities
SO Christmas is over, new years is going to be a non event for me since I work eve into day so my 2009 is pretty much a wrap. Made out ok this year, got more silverware, a $50 giftcard to wal-mart & a $25 gift card to Olive Garden & my room mate and I are splittign a gift of a chilled 5 gal water dispenser, though we think it may be used & may need to be disenfected / cleaned as the water tastes funny. I also got the 2009 snowflake bear, think thats the last year for those for me, so overall a decent haul if not matching past years. i"m content I dont need a lot fo stuff I msotly have all I want or need. had 3 days worth fo things to go to, x-mas eve dinner at my folks, xmas day dinner at my room mates father & gf's house, and then the x-ma s party at my parents on the 26th. Had fun, had my first honny baked ham that I remember, had the traditional lasagne, best of both worlds. The party as ok, just an excuse for free food & booze really, ery low ket & quiet this year. 5 days of work til 2010 and a whole new year of adventure. A lot has changed this year, or will be, 2010 looks promising Cya on the other side |

open air museum "Bad Windsheim"
Heyas, yesterday, after all those Christmas stuff, we decided to visit a "special" museum located in the nearer surroundings here. This museum buys old houses from all over Germany, and moves them to a nice area. The buildings, sometimes more than 500 years old, show what life in older ages meaned. The put a high importance on beeing as correct as possible in rebuilding parts. And yeah they only rebuild small parts, they are mostly the real old houses. Here some pics from yesterday. (with two pics of MoonFox on it ;) ) Enjoy :) want to see more pics? click here to enter the gallerylots of greetings Tagaro and MoonFox Current Mood: okay |

Saw Avatar on IMAX 3D.... It was okay... So, I'm probably in the minority about this movie.
It was NOT was the most amazing moving that I've ever seen. It did NOT change my life. I am NOT thinking about it all the time.
However, it was probably the most visually stunning/ impressive movie I've seen. And seeing it in 3D made it ever better. The computer generated worlds, characters, and motion is getting very realistic. Quite scary, in fact. I wonder how long before you don't have people physically acting any more.
I did miss about the first 10 min of the movie because of seating problems at the IMAX theater. Our group had seats for the second row but then saw it in the back row which wasn't too bad either. Maybe missing that beginning stuff jaded my movie experience.
It was a very predictable story. It was typical James Cameron. It was a good match to show off the movie magic, but it didn't move me as much as I've seen with other posts.
So in the end, a great movie to see, but not emotionally earth shattering. But to each his own. |

Xmas recap

I just got home and slowly unpacking everything. It was a very interesting xmas for sure. I had a nice time seeing family and being able to relax for a few days. I decided to put the work aside and actually relax, why not treat myself at least for a little and just sit and draw and enjoy the weather so I did.
Xmas was a bit weird this year, not sure exactly what but it felt odd. We usually open presents on the 24th which we did after lunch. Lunch is usually a whole to do, but not this year. We ate lunch in our PJs which I can't complain but I do miss the fun get dressed lunches we did the previous years. We got our presents and then hurried back to our rooms. It felt I don't know odd, like get it out of the way sort of dealio and get on with it. I am a person that loves xmas and it did not feel like it was all there this year (I won't get into last years xmas as that felt off too). Maybe it was the whole stress of shit happening this year and me feeling completely out of wack but I feel a bit disconnected with family in a way which is not cool (I need to see them more :(. I feel cold and at times have problems connecting back. My mom said she felt like she was not appreciated which I can see at times why. I may not be the person that hugs and kisses their mom all the time, but I do indeed love her. I just felt really off this holiday.

The 25th was the first time I can say I went to a movie on that day. We had my step brother and his kids over. They did their thing and Andres and I went to see Avatar. The movie was beyond amazing which means I will go see it via IMAX for sure. But my brother and I got to bond a bit in the car and talk about random happenings. Makes me sad I don't hang out with my brothers or ever see them for that matter. We are so alike in so many ways, and now we rarely talk but on holidays or the occasional phone call to set something up. I miss them so much and I bet they don't even know. I love all 3 of them but we no longer do anything together. Let's fix that this year you guys :).

Don't get me wrong I needed the break, the mental break most of all and I got a bit of it. I am now sitting at home wondering if I should of stayed and spent new years with my parents (my grandma is there too). I do love being back in my own house but I do like being with them a lot. I do understand we have our differences but at the same time that is part of the fun in a way.

As for xmas swag I walked away with a few good ones so no complaints there. My brothers regifted their kindle which I can now consider an amazing addition to my library of electronics :). I have yet to load books on it as I was slowly learning how to use it first, but that thing royally rocks.
My mom packed something that left me wondering how long I have had that fascination for foxes of sorts. I unpacked this plate that I painted back when I was in 4th grade (1994) and go figure the animal of choice was a fox. I was surprised and a bit embarrassed, but it will be going up on my wall for sure :). It matches my green walls, just a funky blast from the past for sure.

A few other old things were handed to me which were neat. Need to see where I plan to display them all a long with a sweet MJ book, that made me smile. Sweaters shoes and other swag, oh yes I love clothing so bring on the clothes :D.
I have a lot to think about this coming year. New years resolutions that I want to keep for the first time ever. I want to be able to see my family more often, sorry work you might have to wait on some weekends. But I hate the feeling of disconnection I get when I see my family. I want to be closer than ever before, re build a bond that to me has grown very very cold by me being away and distant.

I love my family, my mom my dad, my grandma and brothers. I wish I could of stayed longer.
